Vision In planning this consultation and treatment package, the underlying philosophy is that the quality of life for each individual is of prime importance. A treatment program that is geared to the individual’s needs provides the best motivation and, when combined with specific treatment based upon expert knowledge, will lead to the best possible level of reintegration in personal, professional and social life.

A personal consultation and treatment package for persons who have incurred lesions of the central nervous system is offered in collaboration with the Neurological Rehabilitation Clinic, Leukerbad /Valais, Switzerland. The fee for the package will be charged by the Clinic and the Clinic is recognized by major medical insurances.
The package consists of the following :

A full physiotherapeutic evaluation encompassing participation restrictions, activity limitations and underlying impairments. The evaluation will relate not only to the neurological lesion, but also to aspects of cardiovascular condition and fitness.

Discussion with the individual (and with family members as appropriate) on goal-setting and treatment planning.

A full one- or two-weeks treatment program, not only in the gymnasium but also in various environments encountered in every-day life. The emphasis is on regaining and maintaining the optimum level of quality of life, allowing the person to participate actively and acquire the best possible independence in walking and other activities of daily life. Attention will be given to achieving pain-free joint function (for example in the back, shoulder, hip or other joints of the extremities) and the individual will be encouraged to re-discover the pleasure and fun in movement and training. Depending upon the needs of the individual, therapy will also include work in the fitness centre, activities in thermal water (34-36 degrees), including aqua-jogging and aqua-gym, and adapted sport such as cross-country skiing, Nordic walking, golf, tennis and table tennis. Adapted games (Pool-table, boccia) and other recreational activities may be included according to the interests of the individual.
